Machine keys.

Removable machine elements installed between shaft key seats and hub keyways to transmit torque in power transmission assemblies. They are designed to protect a power transmission application by failing first, which protects other component elements.

Material is carbon steel.

Form A has rounded ends - Form B has square ends - Form AB has one end rounded and one end square.

Use oversized for replacing keys where the keyway may be slightly worn - standard aftermarket keysteel. Use undersized for manufacturing and new applications where the keyway tolerances can be controlled.
